I'm a busy girl. I have an exam tomorrow. And so I'm writing this to avoid reading that. And that other thing I have to read. Also have exams to mark from myth class. New research position to work on. Website to create for writer.

But really all I wanna do is buy a new dress.

My prose poem portfolio is being returned tomorrow. I expect the worst.

Love, Wendy

Hi there, Wanda --

I hope you get better than the worst with your prose-poem portfolio.

I'm reading a book called Horror Vacui, by a guy named Thomas Heise. He's American, but teaches at McGill and presumably lives in Montreal. You might enjoy his stuff: some of it's pretty excellent prose poetry!

Happy New Year,

Stu

Yeah, I got a B+. Was hoping for something higher, but the prof said since I missed one class I wasn't exactly exhibiting academic excellence. It irks me how creative writing workshops are graded, it irks me well.

Heise sounds familiar. Thanks for the pick, I'll look him up. Getting more and more interested in the prose poem form. Although my advanced poetry workshop doesn't allow prose poem submissions. Again, irked. Also, baffled.

Happy New Year to you too. Thanks for the New Year poem!
